kimber micro carry question

My brother won a micro carry and has shot 50 rounds thru it . He is having trouble with the slide not seating all the way forward after shooting. He hasnt put m9re than 2 or 3 in a row thru it before he has to push the slide into place with his thumb. Kimber is saying it needs 500 to 1000 rounds to break in the gun. Is this normal? Not sure if it needs to be cleaned or a gunsmith needs to work it over and smooth it out or he just needs to ahoot it. Its going to be a carry weapon so it needs to operate properly before than can happen. Ay ideas appreciated.

Keep shooting it, they take some time

Lube heavy and keep shooting.

Mine did the same thing and smoothed out way before 500 rounds. I cant remember if it was any specific brand that didn't go back into battery. I just lube it heavily and shoot it. I carry it every day in a Desantis Super Fly holster. I do have to strip and clean every couple weeks to get pocket lint, etc. off of it and re-lube.
