I hope Colt comes back with DA revolvers, but they have been putting out statements for years talking about starting their revolver line up again.

Mentioned in the same thread as Colt Snakes....it sure doesn't pass muster .

Well at least it looks better than A Rhino

Thing is Kimber won't be able to make enough of them...

Thing that REALLY bugs me is why Colt dropped the Snakes and S&W dropped the K frames, except for their uglyazz m-66 they schlep out there now with their super cool lock, its so attractive...

Kimber yes. Colt will never bring back snake guns. First they destryoed all of the tooling in the 80s, and they were way to expensive to make. The snake models all had to be hand fitted and timed.

Agreed!..... I have read accounts of people who worked for Colt when they made snakes; and according to them the Pythons were accuracy tested by having one of the fitters lay stomach down in a fully reclined Lazy Boy recliner - Using the head rest of the chair as a padded shooting bench....Which I think is AWESOME and so common sense practical that it probably wouldn't be accepted in todays manufacturing world.

If they every do bring back the "Snakes" they will most certainly be a "reverse engineered" product from full CNC production; to capitalize on the reputation and desire for their old school products...... and at a price point similar to the current market price of those older guns.

Right there on the side of it: Yonkers, NY.
I would rather sell STI, a Texas company.
Maybe it a anti-YETI, kinda thing...

Is the rollpin for the front sight sticking out?

Re: Kimber Revolver??!! - 01/20/16 02:59 AM

From what I'm seeing they pretty much built the perfect pocket revolver, not a sharp angle or anything to grab or get hung up on clothing. Now if they built it with a crappy or heavy trigger they ruined the whole thing.

Re: Kimber Revolver??!! - 01/20/16 03:11 AM

It's designed for concealed carry, with pocket carry, even with a holster, a hammer is an impediment. Having a hammer creats an opening for junk to get in. When I carryed every day I often had a snub in my jacket pocket when heavy clothes made getting to the Kahr on my hip difficult. It's a niche gun with features optimized for that niche.

Re: Kimber Revolver??!! - 01/20/16 12:28 PM

I was just thinking I needed an $850 hammerless pocket .38S that only looks better than a $250 gun....but that Kimber doesn't even look better. Can't see the point spending that much on a belly gun.

SW makes one with a light weight frame. Dad bought one for my mom for Christmas. I hear folks complain about ruger lcp triggers, bit they are far better than any double action hammer less revolver I've shot.

I agree.

I handled several pocket sized revolvers, and shot two different models. The Ruger LCR-357 came home with me primarily because of the trigger. Yeah, it's snappy with 158gr magnums, but it's not designed for pleasure shooting like my larger/heavier guns. My wife is just plain deadly with hers inside of 10-12 yards.

Re: Kimber Revolver??!! - 01/21/16 03:13 AM

It's a six shot, from what I've read, it's more of a Detective Special sized 357.

...and a .38S too. Not much difference in that size gun. I think the choice between the Kimber and the Ruger is the $400 you'd have left over with the LCR.

Re: Kimber Revolver??!! - 01/21/16 02:09 PM

I carried snubs a lot there is a lot to be said for six rounds over five. The MSRP of the 357 LCR is $669 vs $899 for the Kimber. I've carried a Detective Special, Taurus 85, and a Chief Special Airweight. For holster use I preferred the Detective Special inside the pocket carry the Airweight. The Speer Gold Dot short barrel loads do give a big edge in performance to the 357.

Re: Kimber Revolver??!! - 01/22/16 12:16 PM

Ruger sells for way less than MSRP, Kimber won't. I'm sure the faithful with like it. Glad we all have options in life.
