Re: SHOT SHOW COVERAGE - 01/04/16 06:23 PM

What else is there besides tactical chainsaws, tactical underwear, and other useless tactical crap? If there's any new, wood-stocked rifles that look nice, I'd like to see that. There's a challenge for you.

How about a nice wood stocked hunting rifle with a threaded barrel?

If its gotta have a threaded barrel I'd rather see it in an ugly synthetic stock. Some things just don't go together!

If Howa has their 6.5 Grendel out, a sneak peek at that would be nice.

Second that one.

Also, I'd personally like to see what all the options are out there for chassis systems for Tikkas and Savages, especially the modular types that let u costomize with off the shelf ar parts.

Re: SHOT SHOW COVERAGE - 01/05/16 01:49 AM

What is the new optic from vortex going to be?
Any new bushnell optics maybe illuminated?

Any smaller new 9mm pistols, true pocket size

Me too. Especially anything affordable (Remington 700, Tikka T3).

Also curious if the Tikka T3 is being replaced by a newer model.

Swing by the Magpul table and tell them we need 10 and 20 round 6.8 mags that are reliable and don't cost 50 dollars per mag

Re: SHOT SHOW COVERAGE - 01/20/16 04:02 PM

Having worked in the industry for a dozen years and attending SHOT, it is something to see once or twice in your life. We sat and figured out that with over 2000 vendors, if you spent every minute you could be there going from booth to booth, you would have 6 seconds per booth. eek2Not to mention the difficulty in finding the time to go see something 'new'.

That said, I don't miss working it. As a retailer, it's hectic trying to get to every one of your main vendors. As a vendors, it's long hours and trying to actually get some sales done in a timely fashion.

If you really enjoy gun shows, this is the Taj Mahal of them. Everything from police gear to tactical to camping to hunting is in the building. Not so much for the archers, they have their own show. The only problem is, you can't buy guns there. You may be able to place an order if you're carrying an FFL with you. And some vendors will sell display items at the end but, finding them can by half the fun.

Re: SHOT SHOW COVERAGE - 01/20/16 04:11 PM

Browning has brought back the A-5 Sweet 16.

Rigby has brought back the .416 Rigby Mauser. That one will set you back about 15 grand though.....

Re: SHOT SHOW COVERAGE - 01/21/16 02:11 PM

We have a lot more pictures and one of our guys is still out there..
I got in late last night..
Like the guy above said, you can't hit it all.
Not much new really, didn't expect there to be frankly.
Ultra compact ARs are pretty popular, I really liked the one from LMT, the Compressor.
Getting some ultra compact AR is on the list for this year

Armasight has a new compact clip on thermal, the Appollo Nano that I will be getting in.
Also a drone with thermal for spotting/scouting, oh, yes, cool stuff there..

For me, it's a lot of about meeting up with people that I have got to know over the years.

We got invited to a private penthouse party last night with Seals and porn girls..
Glad I had to catch a plane..

Re: SHOT SHOW COVERAGE - 01/21/16 02:23 PM

I see Leupold is coming out with an improved VX3 scope line (better low light capability) AND lowering the price points on all VX3 models by $100 due to better efficiencies in manufacturing.

If the quality is still there (which I assume it will be) that's very good news.

Price drop due to better efficiencies...... That's code for competition is kicking us around. Normally any company that finds a better way to make an improved product makes more profit.
