This guy until yesterday. Picked up a Ruger Collectors 50th Anniversary Edition 10-22. I'll take it out today and see how it shoots.

Ive got a really nice 10/22 sporter or maybe sporter delux. Its the model with no barrel band and a nicer wood stock. Havent shot it in 10 years probably. Its resting up for the workout my boy will put it through some day smile

Rugers were always my favorite 22, good lookin gun

Re: What kind of man doesn't have a 22 rifle. - 12/15/15 02:38 PM

Good, it shoots good. It can shoot great but it will need a loving touch or two to get to great. First touch the trigger. A PC three piece trigger kit with adjustable sear or a Kidd trigger if you're high rolling.

Enjoy your new gun. Go find the ammo it likes. Have you got a selection to try?

Very cool 10/22 up

Mine is 30 years old (looks like it) and still going strong. And article in Outdoor Life ten years ago claimed that if you totaled every manufacturers total sales of semi-auto .22 lr they would not equal the number of 10/22's sold.

Re: What kind of man doesn't have a 22 rifle. - 12/15/15 03:41 PM

if you were initiated properly your first rifle should be a .22

I've grown to appreciate the rimfire and have been building my collection

Winchester 94-22
Winchester 94-22 75th Boy Scout Edition
3 Browning 22 (bottom eject)
Remington 541-T
4 Remington 597 AAC
Ruger 10/22
Sako Quad

several .22 pistols, Colt/Beretta/Kimber/NAA/Ruger one of the coolest is Beretta 87

think i'll add Volquartson, Anschultz soon

Slick looking gun. I've got an old Remington 572 Fieldmaster pump .22 that was passed down to me by my late grandfather. I keep wanting a 10/22 until I get the old pump action out and see how accurate and flawlessly it shoots.

I have run across a similar situation with my father's old Marlin model 60.

The new Ruger in the OP sure looks nice though.

Nice! Won't be long until I get a Ruger 22. I have a Savage and really enjoy it.

really nice ruger

i started with a winchester 190 back in the good old days

wanted without interference from the gummint

Nice rifle. I'm shooting a Henry .22 and an old Remington Speed Master. It seems ever Ruger .22 i've ever had has become a present to a youngster that showed an interest.

That is a nice looking rifle, and I'll second that recommendation to put a Kidd trigger in it. A Kidd trigger makes a great rifle even better.

Re: What kind of man doesn't have a 22 rifle. - 12/15/15 08:25 PM

The answer to your question is an ignorant man! Haha.

I got into guns late and thought what was the point of a 22. I've totally come around and think everyone should have one. And special love to the 10/22. I've had one and after we married my wife needed her own according to her.

FYI, I've sent my trigger to a place called Brimstone gun something, smithing or works. They do a good trigger job which made a world of a difference. I'm sure u can buy parts and diy, but this was easy and affordable for me.

Somebody had the Ruger drop-in BX trigger kit for ~$50 on Black Friday. I already had it in mine, it's pretty good.

Re: What kind of man doesn't have a 22 rifle. - 12/15/15 11:31 PM

No .22! I shoot a .22 rim fire 90% of the time. About 15k rounds a year. Have a Kimber rifle that is great practice since it is a full size gun. A Colt 1911 full size and several more.
I pity the rats, skunks and jackrabbits around here!

Re: What kind of man doesn't have a 22 rifle. - 12/15/15 11:49 PM

aim
Put more rounds thru 10/22 than any other gun - by far.
Son and I leaded up the first barrel. Rattled apart three different scopes.
Now it has bull barrel, hogue stock, Leopold scope, and shoots better than new.
Was really great when you could buy a 550 rounds of 22's for $8.

I'm a fan of the marlin 795. Keep one leaned up by the back door, wife smoked a yote with it not long ago. I prefer a fixed 4x32 scope

Re: What kind of man doesn't have a 22 rifle. - 12/16/15 01:02 AM

OK gang it's not that I never had a 22 rifle, I've had several but for some reason just quit shooting them. I gave my last to my brother it was a Thompson Center Classic. Gave my Anshutz 1416 HB to a friend of mines daughter. Started shooting the 17 HMR and just quit on the 22's. I still have several 22 cal revolvers and a couple of auto's.

The little Ruger is light and easy to get in and out the window of the truck. The peep sights are excellent and I probably won't scope it. The trigger while not as bad as I was expecting it to be will most likely be replaced. It drew it's first blood today with a coyote at about 50 yards drinking water out of the road. Hit him in the H/L area and knocked him down but he needed another shot to make it permanent. For 220 dollars it's well worth the coin and acts like it was made to ride shotgun in a truck.

Me too. .22's are great, but when the shortage came and the high priced scalping stupidity started, I went with .17 HMR. So far, I haven't looked back. They are SO much fun!! Easy to stock up on as well.

Re: What kind of man doesn't have a 22 rifle. - 12/17/15 06:05 PM

Got a Winchester 190 for my 13th birthday (41 years ago). It came with a Weaver 4X scope as a package deal from the factory. Can't tell you how many bricks have been cycled through it. Many a Squirrel in Nacogdoches County fell out of a tree when I went to SFA.

In my mid 20's I came across a Winchester Model 1890 at an estate sale for $30.00. Of course I bought it. A friend traced the serial # and it was manufactured in late 1907. Bummer was it shoots shorts only and shorts were hard to find at the time. A couple years later shorts were everywhere and I would by a couple bricks at a time. Taught my son and lots of other kids how to shoot with it.

Re: What kind of man doesn't have a 22 rifle. - 12/18/15 01:53 AM

I have to say that both of my bone stock 10/22's have always been very accurate using ammo that they like.
But now they shoot better than I can, out to 100 yds - since putting scopes on them. (As long as the wind isn't blowing!) For mine, accuracy is all about the ammo.

I have Weaver high rise see-through rings, so I use the factory sights for close in shooting. The scopes are zeroed at 50 yards.

That is sweet. I love my 10-22 and my other 6 22s.

Volkerson makes a sweet trigger kit for about 75.00 that is well worth the coin. up

What, no Winchester 52? You need one, brother. up

So, between the Quad and the 541-T, which shoots better? Those 541s will shoot, but some are just outstanding. If I coulda kept mine I would have, but I wanted the 52 more than the 541-T.

Re: What kind of man doesn't have a 22 rifle. - 12/19/15 05:42 PM

I have had a number of 22's. Current favorite is old an 552 Speedmaster with open sights, it just seems to shoot where I want it to.

Nice score on the Ruger, it is hard to beat a good 10/22.
