Precision Rifle Hunters with FiremanJG - 12/06/15 08:49 PM
Been trying to get out there to shoot at FJG's range for sometime and yesterday I was finally able to take the course. With the properties I have access to out here I am limited to 4-500 yards and am always bench shooting off a folding table or out of the back of the truck
The course was awesome, reviewed all the basics plus much more that goes into the equation. I have the, "the more you know mentality" so am known for asking tons of questions and Jason was not hesitant to answer them all plus some.
I was having problems getting good groups at 400 and didnt know if it was my scope or me. Quickly found it it was mainly ammo. I did pick up some of the best 168 bthp I could find (HPR) which is guaranteed to have less than a 1/10th of grain difference between each round. It proved to be sufficient for the course and we ran out to 800 fairly quickly determining adjustments on the scope and creating a dope chart. After running to 800 and back doing adjustments we decided to put his suppressor on my rifle check zero and practice holding elevation and height all the way out to 800. With the practice and knowledge I learned was able to quickly zip out to 600 without a miss, then had my first one due to wind. I was planning to get more video but grabbed the wrong SD cards with pics I couldnt delete and mine filled up quick. Was able to snap a few pics and a few short videos. I got the videos in the wrong order. They are 600,500, then 700. I ran out of mils for hold over at 800 yards and decided not to video it, but gave it a try and nailed it dead center on my first shot
After that we did some different shooting situations that you would run into hunting or in shooting competitions. All around had a hell of time and if anyone is considering this I would highly recommend it.
Attached a short video and decided not to edit out the end
Oh and FYI for those with magpul stocks. Accuracy International 10 rd mags will work in it
