Can y'all stand one more thread on lever actions?

Can y'all stand one more thread on lever actions? - 11/04/15 01:52 AM

Didn't want to hijack the other's post's. Bottom line. I ordered a Henry in .357

Blued receiver. 20 inch barrel. LGS called and said it arrived. I'll pick it up tomorrow.

Pretty excited. Receiver is drilled and tapped if at some point a scope is needed. Don't see taking any shot's beyond 100 yds for hog's and yote's.

Okay. I'm downright elated. banana

Henry owner's chime in, but please don't tell me they suck before I chamber that 1st round y'all. smile

Girl, it's an addiction.. All these threads on levers made me get the Marlin 1894 (.357) circa 1980 out today and just work the action! 38 spl lead round nose flat points through the 1894 are the most fun you can have w/ your clothes on..

Don't be afraid to polish the interals if it isn't as smooth as you'd like it early on.. You can cycle the really smooth actions w/ one finger...

Pics when you get it!!

Janie,

One time, thankfully only one occassion, I cycled a friend's Henry in .22lr. I remember wondering if they lined the action with silk. Smoothest running lever action I've ever handled. I don't know how they shoot, but I have not heard a bad report.

I "need" the Big Boy chambered in .44 Mag!

I love Henry's! I just feel guilty carrying one cause I've never been easy on tools and hate to add character. Friend just got one in .17HMR, it's fun.

I just hope you don't have to drive straight north to pick it up.

Let us know how it goes. The only concern will come in 5-7 years as far as Henry's go.

I have to get one now.

I have to wonder if much of our attraction to lever guns is the result of having a Daisy as a kid, combined with all those western cowboy movies.

I love lever guns, the look I mean. I just can't get past the lack of accuracy compared to a bolt action.

Cast, some of the lever guns will surprise you. Couple Marlins I know well sure would.

Janie welcome to another gun addiction.

And nothing works better at playing "war" than having a "real" AR-15.

Janie, my neighbor bought one last year, the stubby version .44 iirc, don't know how it shoots, but it is just plain "purdy". Fine piece of craftsmanship too.

Dennis, it really is. It's finally home and all mine! Weee!

The wood grain is far prettier then I was expecting. Hopefully range time comes the weekend of the 14th, but good gosh this thing is filthy. Covered in cosmoline (sp) Good cleaning and it should be ready to rock n roll.

Stand in line. I've had a .357 Blackhawk for a while. Me first.

No brass, no octagons, no 16", no big loops, no stainless......

That's a part of why I wanted one. The other reasons are I think they look cool and only one person I know has one - so it's different. Love mine though it's not as cool as some of the others and would be pooh-poohd by some. Don't care.

Cheers to another lever gun owner, congrats!

I too have a thing for lever action rifles. No doubt from watching Western's when I was a kid. I have a Henry .17HMR and 2 Browning BLR's: one in .270 and the other in .223

Mine is a BLR in .308. Pistol grip, Jap model. It's my primary deer rifle. Didn't really watch westerns though.

Got a Winchester (1967) Canadian Centennial 30 30 Rifle with a Octagon Barrel. Never been shot. Looks cool with that long barrel.
