Ruger SR22 Catastrophic failur "UPDATE" - 09/18/15 05:04 PM

I wanted to update everyone but could not edit original post. After calling Ruger and getting the prepaid label to return the Sr22 which Ruger received the on Monday of this week.
I got a call from them Wednesday after noon that a tech had looked at the SR22 and that he could replace with factory parts as there where no upgraded parts at this time.
or my second option which I choose was exchange with a like pistol around the same msrp I asked if they would be able to exchange for the Ruger 22/45 lite in blue was told they would check. And today i get a call that says all is good they can do that i gave them FFL dealer info and they should ship it next week. I have to say Im extremely happy banana with both the process and reps at Ruger I really liked the SR22 but didn't want same thing to happen again and maybe worse.I hope that the 22/45 lite was a good choice any thoughts?

Ruger gets an A plus in my book in the way this process went banana2

Yes, the 22/45 lite was an amazing choice. I've been dying for one. And ifnitsnthencurrent production model, its got a fluted barrel that looks awesome.

Honestly, that's some unbelievable customer service.

That's what I figured.

I used a Lite (the original black one) for 100 or so CCIs once. It's pretty short barreled and light but it's neat I guess. I like my heavy blued one with wood grips more but you can't go wrong.

It'll likely be more accurate by far than the SR22.

Write back after you take it apart the first time.

22/45 is an excellent gun. I sold mine a few years ago and have regretted it many times since. Just bought a MKIII to replace it with and am thrilled to have another Ruger 22.

I got the bull barrel model both times, and they're really accurate, very reliable, and handle well.

Glad Ruger CS is taking care of you. Stinks that your SR22 blew up.

Thanks for the update on the SR 22 issue. Glad Ruger did right by you. Enjoy the new 22/45 and give us a report after you've given it a good workout.

Glad things are working out. I looked and did not see a recall from Ruger on the SR22, did they mention anything about shipping in a gun for repair before it blows apart? I am a bit concerned about my wife's SR22, she shoot all of the time. Maybe I will give them a call.

No "Simple Searcher" they didnt say anything about recall or sending them in for repair. Im not sure I would send it in my self as there are no updated or upgraded parts to fix it. If yours is working now I would keep it no piont in fixing somthing that is not broke and its possiable the replacment might cause a failur.
