$300 shotgun

$300 shotgun - 08/30/15 12:53 PM

I'm sure you guys have been over this half a dozen times or so but hopefully y'all don't mind it again. So I have a want for a new rifle to toy around with but have a need for a shotgun.
Looking for recommendations on a decent shotgun for around or less than $300. Whether it be new or used.
Looking for a 12 gauge, will be used seldomly for dove, mainly for turkey, the occasional hog if it's pretty close and then. I would love something semi auto but I also realize that, that's probably unattainable in my price range, Unless I find somebody selling one.
Thanks in advance guys, looking to buy today or this week sometime

In that price range, Remington 870, Mossberg 500... the usual. I would probably look for a used 870 Wingmaster if it were me.

Yeah I figured that's what a lot of people are goin to say. I've looked at both. I don't like " the usual"

Anyone have opinions on the stoeger p350 with a 28" barrel?

Occasionally one can stumble into a cosmetically challenged BPS for about that amount. If you don't mind a few scratches, you can have a very functional shotgun.

Maverick 88 at academy for $188.

In years past, Cabelas ran Weatherby Pumps at that price, and seemed to be pretty decent guns. Might look at Gun Broker these days to see what's available from the on line retailers - Bud's in Kentucky has been good to work with for me, or check CDNN Sports website, their shipping is pretty cheap ummm $15 last time I looked.

Yep bought a used one with two barrels (18" and ribbed 28"), two stocks (one pistol grip and one butt stock) and a Cabela's sock for around two bills at a show.

There was an ultimag for sale in the classifieds that seemed like a good deal. I have a 500 that I received for my 13th birthday. After almost 35 years and 10000 rounds it still goes bang every time.

I'd look for used shotguns.
A used Benelli nova or old Remington wingmaster is a lot better buy than a new 870 express or mossberg

Browning BPS or Ithaca 37, used. They can be found if you have patience.

Wal Mart generally has Mossberg 535 for about $270.

870's are a workhorse and can be had cheap. $300 shouldn't be an issue. If you can scrape together a little more money, you can pick up a CZ auto in 12 or 20 for a little over $400. Good shotguns.

Ricky since no one answered the Stogoer is a pretty good gun for the money. The Weatherby pump is too.
