10/22 barrel

10/22 barrel - 08/24/15 01:16 AM

So I am thinking about adding a new barrel for my 10/22. What kind of accuracy could I expect at 100 yards?

I have an ER Shaw bull barrel on mine. At fifty, it shoots 5/8". It's hard to get any .22 accurate at 100 because supersonic bullets start to destabilize, and wind affects them greatly.

To answer your question, mine shot about 1 1/2"@50 with the factory barrel.

I had a heavy Green Mountain barrel on my 10/22 and it would put 10 under a quarter at 50 yards. I recently changed to a TAC-SOL barrel that is threaded because I plan to use a suppressor. I don't think I ever shot it out to 100 for a group.

A 10/22 shooting well at 100 yards? The Holy Grail. I have chased it for years and years. Mine will shoot tiny little 10 round groups at 50, but they fall apart somewhere between there and 100 yards. Soooo, I pick up my Win 52 and shoot tiny little groups at 100 yards. That makes me crazy. The bolt gun difference is a barrier that just can't be overcome.

+1

I have decked out 10/22s that shoot marginally better at 100 yards than my bone stock carbines, but I can get out my grandfathers beat to hell Winchester 67 that rode behind his truck seat for 40 years or so, and put all of them to shame even with the well worn iron sights.
