Been told you need chrome lined barrel for steel shot??? Any particulars on shotgun using steel shot.

I don't think you need a chrome lined barrel....after all the shot is in the wad the entire time it travels down the barrel.

Now on older guns that have fixed full chokes, the barrels can crack at the muzzle because the steel shot doesn't compress as it goes through the choke and out the muzzle like lead shot will.

Even modern screw in chokes need to be rated for steel shot I believe.

Absolutely not! Any modern shotgun has been built with that choice in mind. If in doubt check the manual.

I didn!t say it made sense, that is what someone told me. What is best choke to use for steel shot for duck hunting?
