POI shift with Magneto Speed

POI shift with Magneto Speed - 07/18/15 01:08 PM

Since there has been some discussion on the forum about this I though I would post some pictures from yesterday afternoon sighting in two Horizon built 300 Win mag's.

First picture showing speeds... One shot was clean/cold barrel.... I assume Derrick cleaned it. wink

Now the 3 shots with data.

Took off the chronograph and fired one more to see where it would impact.
Not much change.

Then I switched to a different 300 WM and fired 3 shots with and two without and you can see results. I was aiming at the hole punched in the target.... I missed....5 times aim

Well not really. Since certain combinations have lead to poi shift, just this one did not. Not sure if it's driven by the speed or size of the bullet.

I wanna play with my new 300 frown. Hopefully next weekend

Correct the second rifle did have a shift in POI and I will say that is most instances there is and from what I have seen its usually vertically up about an inch. The second rifle exhibited about what I normally see.
Jason both of these were Sendero weight fluted barrels.
Actually from the description Chad mentioned in the chronograph post I am wondering if you say mounted the bayonet at a 90 degree angle if you could make the bullet mover left to right etc. Can' t see a reason to do so but would be an interesting experiments.

Sendero has some meat on the bone.

I'd like to see what it does with a #0, 1, 2, or 3.

Good work DStroud, They were both clean when you got them, and good shooting.

Both barrels were 4/5 contours. Fluted little different and the one with the point change was 1 inch longer

I just got the magnetospeed sporter model. I tried it out last weekend on a lwt contour 6.8spc AR and had about a 1.75" poi shift. I don't mind it at all, this is so much easier that messing around setting up skyscreens!
