Cheaper Than Dirt Round Rock closed!!

Was out prowling around yesterday and dropped by the CTD store in RR just to look. Saw signs that everything in the store was 20% off. Looked around then priced stuff on line and went back today to buy a few things I could save a few bucks on and the doors were locked and sign on the door said closed!!!!!!

They didn't even make it a year and never got any money out of me.

If everything they had was 20% off, that means its still 50% higher than any other place I know of.

Glad to see them closed!

The store in Mckinney closed too..... I'm sad , where else am I gonna find 50rds of 22lr for $30.... Good riddance ....

It does. They brought this on themselves after Sandy Hook. Bill and I stopped at the McKinney store the day before they closed.

They still had quite a few boxes of the Liberty Civil Defense ammo in .45ACP.

$7.00 per box.

Bill grabbed 8 boxes and the cashier must've had cataract's.

They charged us $7.58 for all 8 boxes.

Normally would've said something, but CTD totally screwed us over on an order we had placed right before SH.

Worse yet.

They lied to us.

They close at 6pm sun-thur bud

Too bad it was 2pm today and the signs on the door said they are permanently closed.

Good for them. Made the trek to McKinney ONCE. Yes, I gave them money....for some ammo cans.

I remember going into the Fort Worth store and buying stuff at reasonable prices back in the 90s. I'd like to have been a fly on the wall when the decision was made that brought all this on. They've waaaaay overplayed their hand and now they're paying the price. I wonder what the board meetings are like these days.

Once everyone found out they were buying AR-15s from Cabela's in Allen and Fort Worth to stock their stores during the gun panic and selling them at 3 times the price it was game over. Not to mention the $100 bricks of .22 and $100 pmags.

I used to like their store but after SH, I never spent another penny in there. Glad to see them closed!

Speaking of places closing, why couldn't Sportsman's Warehouse make it in Lewisville? Too much overhead? The only times I went in there I thought they had good prices.

It probably not the Lewisville location they expanded to fast and got into trouble with corporate debt services. They made a strategic decsion to downsize through a bankruptcy. They are now stable and opened 3 new stores last year.

The website is still up and running, but I think that might be a separate entity. I bought some "Grade B" surplus .30-06 (for my Garand) from the website last week for almost $.25 per round cheaper than the CMP. Only about 1 in 20 were "grade B" and the rest good, clean ammo.

I liked the store too, but only managed two vists on account of the drive being so sucky.

The name was being leased to the folks running the retail locations, sort of like a franchise. The people running Fort Worth Gun off of Eastchase in Fort Worth were the same ones that had the CTD store on 820 and Mark 4 Parkway. They didn't choose to renew their agreement with CTD due to name recognition issues and went on their own.
The website will continue on as always, there's still folks out there willing to do business with them nationwide.

Glad to see them reaping the benefits of their business practices. I got burned by them on an order and was lied to as well when they changed the conditions of the purchase agreement after purchase and before shipping.

Plenty of individuals out there with short memories and "that doesn't affect me" reasoning that'll continue to buy from them.

We have a Sportsmans Warehouse in Tucson, and it is a great store to have around. Competitive prices and a large selection.

CTD can go down in flames after their price hikes for all I care.

well then i stand corrected lol. I had heard that they were going to drop the CTD name and run under their own all those stores are franchises and the owner of that one wasnt happy.
