Rifle value?

Rifle value? - 05/16/15 04:29 AM

Winchester model 70 supergrade with a leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40 in the gloss black color.

Had a guy offer me this rifle for my 300 blk pistol. It's in pretty good condition as well. Any idea what this might be worth?

I will take a truck load!

Year of manufactuer can make a huge difference in price with this model as well as caliber, but I can assure you the gun alone will bring well over $400 unless its a rust bucket that is inoperable. And while gloss scopes are not the in thing right now the brand and model still is worth a few hundred bucks alone.

Re: Rifle value? - 05/16/15 12:59 PM

Does this M70 have:
a Control Round Feed Extractor?? ...big time important you know this and changes the value by 30-50%
what caliber is it??
some calibers are worth more in than others & are easier to re sell as a used gun
does the stock have a black foretip?? Older less desirable push feed M70 SG's have a Black bacite fore tip
is the stock very highly figured, some figuring or just nice looking as this is a major selling feature of the Super Grade series
what color is the recoil pad red/black, vented or solid??
ANY dents, scratchs, scuffs, dinged compressed spots in the checkering??
ANY rust, dings, scratchs in the metal work ??
Same thing with the scope in "condition" issues??
Crosshair type in the scope, duplex or ??

1. Go look at GunBroker.com under Bolt Action Rifles For Sale
2. do a search for the EXACT rifle & scope you have, or as close to it as possible by caliber 1st .
3. If you can't find the EXACT rifle you have, use a broader Search description for the Rifle Only,by caliber, 1st as Sporter Style, then as a Featherweight...and ADD 20-25% to the value of a Sporter/Fwt in the same condition as "your" M70 ...ie gun to gun only... without the scope
4. Run the same Search in the "SOLD" rifles to see what things have sold for in the last 6 months.

On Average, for a used & hunted CRF Super Grade Model 70 in a 270-thru 338 caliber or in 375H&H and larger calibers in CRF guns add 10+20% in good - not perfect - condition on a National Market I'd expect the rifle alone to take 60-90-120 days mebbe 6 months to sell and bring $ 750 to as much as $900 alone AND That is depending on the time of year. The scope in same condition should bring $300 to $4/$500+ with rings .... OR the package to bring $8-$900 to ???? ON A NATIONAL MARKET using a Auction Site like Gun Broker and the Seller paying for a local FFL to Ship to the Buyers FFL. I'd expect to discount the Package of Rifle and Scope sold togrther by about 10-15%. PLUS Discount those prices about 10/15% to 25% for an Internet Forum type Free Classified program.

FYI the huge on line firearms retailer, Bud's Guns in Paris, Kentucky has just launched a GunBroker type Auction site with a lil bit cheaper & user/seller friendly fee system ...I got tyhe Notice this morning that they were Live and On Line, after couple years of Beta work.
JMHO & YMMV

???? I would guess that magnification range is second only to the 4.5-14X in popularity in the Luepold Vari-X/V-X line.

Offhand guess would be $700-900 for that package depending on condition of course.

Re: Rifle value? - 05/16/15 06:16 PM

That appears to be the older Vari X 3 and not the newer VX-3 (still not bad though). Gun is also a CRF action so that's a huge plus!

Unless your 300BLK has some sort of super expensive parts list and optics I would swap in a heart beat!

Re: Rifle value? - 05/16/15 06:21 PM

WOW WHAT A NICE LOOKING GUN for sure in a great caliber, with all the current bells & whistles ...Do Not hesitate if you are dithering about it, as it will sell in a heart beat to the 1st person with any money in his pocket and a hankering for a 300Winnie in a classic styled Model 70 SG ...including me ...if I had any money left that was not already committed elsewhere.

Anytime I see someone selling/trading a gun for less than its worth, my radar picks up and I wonder, why ?? Who owns it, etc. If you know the fellow to be honest or know him personally, go for it..., otherwise beware.

I did not say the pkg for $400. going by blue book, 80% is $475.
Posted By: Reeder

Re: Rifle value? - 05/21/15 04:14 AM

The blue book is garbage and is self serving to the author and his buddies based on what guns from their collections they feel like selling or buying in a given year. Most of the prices in there are way off base either way too low or stupid high.

Re: Rifle value? - 05/21/15 08:18 PM

New Supergrades sell in the $1200 range, at 98% with scope, it should come close to the same.

Very good deal for you it seems.

Does the trigger guard have any nicks in it now? I HATE when they lean them like that with metal objects roflmao

Re: Rifle value? - 05/30/15 04:26 AM

IT may not be the deal of the year but I think it's a deal. I would take it if the
overall condition is as good as it looks. The scope may not be choice but it's still a deal.
