I got 6 out of 10, some of them I just didn't know. Like the hole in the front of match bullets, no idea that was just a by-product of production.

Yes. The hollow point is there so the bullet can be knocked out of the die during the forming process with a rod/pin. The larger the hole, the easier it is to get out of the die, but the greater the increase in drag. I only knew that from talking to guys who made bullets and how they were made.

I got 9 out of 10. Didn't know what spin drift was, but I'm sure that seems elementary to some of you experts.

I suck... 50%
I have heard the term spin drift used incorrectly... I thought it was another term for Coriolis Effect, I know i have heard somebody use it that way.... I wont comment on my other goofs

Re: Interactive Ballistics Quiz!! - 05/09/15 04:38 PM
Coriolis Effect is the earth spinning, and the bullet already online to the target, but the target is moving because it's on the spinning Earth. At long range, you have to account for this.
Spin drift is simply "drift" caused by the spinning of the bullet. Some bullets will have more, some will have less, depending on the rpm's of the bullet. Generally, it's about 2"-5" at 1000 yards.

Tony and I were shooting at his dad's ranch one August. Not a whisper of wind. I let go a 178 gr A-max at 2700 MV, out of a 1:10" twist .308 Win. Splashed to the right. Both of us "what the heck?"I held 2/10 left and center hit it twice. We looked puzzled for a couple seconds. SPIN DRIFT! Duh!
Most of the time the wind will cancel it or, magnify it slightly since there's usually some wind, not that day.

100% in two minutes.
Reading the Applied Ballistics series of books sure didn't hurt.
