HK VP9

Purchased one a few months back and I'm impressed. Gun has a great trigger for a striker fired polymer gun, it's a lot better than any glock, m&p or xd. I only wish they made a 5" barrel for competion, it would defiantly replace my Xdm competion if they do come out with one. Ofcourse your glock fan boys are going to put down the gun but if you are in the market for a new polymer gun I recommend checking one out. I have only put a few hundred rounds thru it so can't really comment yet in reliability but so far no hiccups. I perfer to purchase USA made guns but besides Ruger or the M&P there are not many choices these days and HK seems like a reputable company. Just my two cents

Ya the grip is one of my favorite things about it, with the extra grips you can get it just right.

ive been browsing the sites for a good used LE version, but everyone seems to want near what they cost new.

I thought about getting one, I even played with it for a bit, but I'm not retraining to use that paddle magazine release. No idea why h&k does that knowing the U.S. market shys away from that style. Which is a shame because I really did want to like it.

I ended up getting the PPQ M2 instead. I felt the trigger and ergonomics were better on it, plus it has the right style mag release. I even like the Sig P320 over the VP9. If they change the style of mag release I might get one, even though I'd hate to give money to a company that doesn't want civilians to own their guns. It's still an h&k and I'd love to own one, even though I'm just a lowly civilian lol

Glad you like the 1911s I know I like my Ruger 1911 but I was simply trying to give a review of the Vp9 for people looking in to them and don't remember bringing up the 1911. There is always that one guy though ....

I bought a VP9 for my wife. It was her first handgun and she shot about 10 different ones before really liking the VP9. I got a great deal at the gun show last weekend... $632 out the door.

I bought my VP 9 back in December and I am thoroughly impressed. The trigger is much better than the HK P30 or USP. I am more than pleased with the accuracy and ergonomics. I don't understand the comparison with a 1911. I love my Dan Wesson Valor but don't understand why you would compare it to a HK VP 9. I love my plastic VP 9, Glock 34, and my 1911s as well. They are all great guns and what is the point of the comparison?

The point is that if you're going to spend $600 on a pistol, I should buy the one that I like better. I have shot a VP9, and I prefer my 1911. If you own and like the VP9, I am happy for you. I personally don't care for any of the plastic pistols.

vp9 is just so hard to find anywhere to even hold and dry fire. somehow people are buying them for 800 at cabelas.

I bought mine online and paid $580 including FFL fee. I couldn't imagine paying $800. I did get the regular VP9 and not the LE

Whatever melts your butter. I have had a LOT of 1911's over the past 40 years. I have tried real hard to join that club. I have not owned one single 1911 that wasn't name brand, COLT, KIMBER, SPRINGFIELD ARMORY, 45, 9, and one Delta Elite. The ONLY one that was not a jam-o-matic was the Springfield Loaded that I had for a while. I wanted to join that club so bad that my primary yahoo account, my business account is ~!!~%1911@yahoo.com-----I need to change that.

Why is it that most people that buy that antique, but brand new 1911, send it off to numerous companies to make the damn thing feed???? I have never sent a polymer gun of any brand off to to make it work.

One close relative of mine took his brand spanking new Colt Combat Commander for a CHL class. It jammed and jammed and jammed. When he finally got through the class he went straight to a local gun shop and bought a new Glock. It has never had a hiccup.

If you really are a "Tactical Cowboy" you better have a back up tactic for when that jam-o-mattic stove pipes.

I have about 3,000 rounds through my Para 16-40, and have had no more trouble with it than I had with a G35.
They all run most of the time and jam every once in awhile.

people keep saying this and I've never had a single failure to feed or failure to extract from any 1911 i've owned or fired.
And I've used some really cheap ammo and hp as well.

Did you really read his comment? He was basically criticizing all polymer guns while touting his 1911.

yeah, it just has no point to it other than touting the 1911.

good gosh.... the guy writes a post about how much he likes his new VP9 and it only takes a few minutes for it to turn into a 1911 pecker measuring contest. Get a life!

on a positive note, I carry a P30 daily, which has the same grip and mags as a VP9. The grip is my favorite part. I have always had nothing but great performance from it. I'm sold on H&K, great products. If striker fired is what you're after, the VP9 is an excellent choice!

the p30 carry well? seemed slightly large for it to me...and based on photo comparisons i've seen the vp9 is between glock19 and 17 size.
if HK could just come out with something more like the vp9 in the 2000sk size.

That was not my intention at all. Like I said before, I am glad the OP likes his pistol, and I have heard nothing but good news about them.

It does! I carry appendix IWB, and it's way easier to hide a bigger gun for me personally. You can hide a VP9/P30 pretty easily with a t-shirt, just have to have the right equipment.

Yep, a VP 9 is on my wish list as well.
