Tactical Bolt Knob Benefits? - 01/27/15 02:56 AM
I am looking at some tactical bolt knobs for my Savage.
I am just wondering, what are the advantages over a factory bolt knob? I understand the size difference, but does the angle of the knob really play that big of a role?

Bigger handle easier to find. And if there is an angle change it can help achieve a little more speed of cycling. Be it prone, bench, or positional. You don't have to have one, but I sure like them better.
Also more leverage to lift the bolt faster/easier without the rifle moving as much. Love the tactical knob on my savage!

I have the factory Savage "tactical" bolt knob, although it's very sharp and hard in the fingers, it does have its advantages. The angle at which it sits, and the added size and length makes it to where I don't have to lift my head and lose my cheek weld when cycling the bolt. Also, I don't use my palm, after I fire I use the side of my index finger to lift up and pull back, then the side of my little finger for forward and back down. Very little movement. I think this helped me spin the windmill in Saturday's match, being able to get back on target quickly was very important.

It really does give you more to grab, but mostly it's just the novelty of having something different--much like replacing the shifter in your car back in high school.

Anyone have an 8 ball bolt knob yet?
This is the one I have, but it came on my rifle from the factory.

I'm more of a 9ball guy.
Hawaii hula dancer, when the bolt goes up the shirt slides down.

I put this one on my savage and like the feel a lot more. Its a bit longer and the better leverage was apparent.
