picanitty rail attachment question - 01/21/15 06:41 PM
would adding a small piccanity rail to the barrel of my ar15 mess with the accuracy of the gun? This would be a small rail that clamps on to the barrel. I'm using it to mount a 250 green light.

I wouldnt mount anything to the barrel. Thats what handguards are for.

It very well could, depending on the weight of the light, your barrel profile, how you have your sights set up (irons vs. optic), etc.
Why not mount the light to the handguards?

The light kit came with the barrel clamp thats why I was asking. I figured the same thing but just wanted some opinions

well the front post sight is clamped to the barrel, I highly doubt it will change the accuracy very much if at all....... it may however change your point of impact......
Point of impact, imo. Wouldn't do it. Is the clamp large enough to mount it on your scope (assuming you have it scoped)?
