Need a stock fitted on a custom rifle - 01/15/15 06:45 PM
My Father built bolt action rifles most of my life and has since past away. I have the only remaining rifle left that he built; so needless to say, it has a lot of sentimental value.
It has a Birdseye Maple Monte Carlo stock with a Walnut foregrip on the front of the stock and also on the pistol grip. Pretty gun. My problem is that the rifle (30-06) has no recoil pad, just a plastic butt plate. Additionally, the stock is a bit long requiring the scope be set as far back as possible in order to get proper eye relief.
I need a Gunsmith to shorten the stock and fit it with a recoil pad and with the proper eye relief without butchering it. I don't have the skills to do it and this gun can't be replaced. I plan on giving this gun to my Grandson when he comes of age.
I'm in the D/FW area. Any recommendations?
