AR barrel length question

AR barrel length question - 01/13/15 02:40 AM

14.5" barrel wit a "pinned" and welded flashider

can the flash hider be removed to install a suppressor if I ever wanted to add one? Of course it would be legally done, re; tax stamp, all paper work.

If the suppressor is a screw on you'd need 2 tax stamps one for an SBR and the other for the suppressor.

If the suppressor is a QD you could get the QD mount pinned and welded then only need on stamp for the suppressor.

If the suppressor is a screw on you could also get it welded onto the barrel and only need one tax stamp for the suppressor. I don't advice this one seems like a waste when you can use a suppressor on multiple guns.

To answer your question yes a flash hider can be removed if pinned and welded.

No problem anytime and I'll be at the hunters shoot if you have any questions then.

Keep in mind some QD mounts aren't supposed to be permanently attached. Check with the manufacturer.

I have a 14.5 with a permantly installed flashhider/suppressor mount.
The device has to meet the 16" length.

Mine is silver soldered to ATF specs.
It can be removed and replaced but not by common hand tools.

Really don't think the 1.5" inches you're saving is really worth the trouble though.
