260 remington

Any reason to not get one other than ammo cost? Looking for a good midrange gun with some power.

6.5 creedmoor has better factory ammo choices, and virtually identical ballistics.

Nothing wrong with the 260 Remington, it's a great cartridge.

I hunt with it, and I like it fine. With the 120 grain bullets, it seems to have about the same performance on deer as the 270 with 130 grain bullet, which means it works great.

I agree the creed more has better ballistics and factory ammo but I'd be trading for this one so I wouldn't be into it much.

The creedmoor doesn't have better ballistics. They are virtually identical. If anything the creed may be ever so slightly slower.

None of this matters if you handload. In fact, Lapua makes excellent 260 brass.

Federal, Remington, Nosler and Black Hills all load for the 260 with some darn good hunting bullets. For the mid range hunting round I would say the 260 over the 6.5 Creedmoor any day if the person is using factory rounds.

Hornady and Winchester load for the 6.5 Creedmoor. I know that Honady loads some good ammo but I am not enamored with a lot of their bullets performance on game. If you are a reloader the Creedmoor is a good choice as the sharp shoulder and case design does most of the time yield a little more consistency in extreme spread.

If you reload there is very little difference in the Creedmoor, 260 performance or the much older 6.5X55 Swiss.

If the deal is good go for it.



Nosler also makes great brass for the 260, between Nosler and Lapua I am not sure which is the better brass. Both beat most of the other brass out there IMO
