Gun Cleaning Process- UltraSonic Anyone Try this?

I recently talked to a company in Southlake that uses an Ultra Sonic dip tank solution to clean barrels with trigger assemblies still attached and bolts from bolt action rifles and they claim they can get them way cleaner than just about any way an individual can clean his own rifle, shotgun or pistol.
I was curious if anyone from the THF has used anyone who does this type of cleaning process.
It seems to me this would be a great way to get an older gun cleaned.

Don't see any reason why it wouldn't work well for older firearms with decades of crud in them.

I have also herd of people taking old guns with years of crud in them that they inherited shooting them and they shoot great, then they get the bright idea to remove all the crud and the gun patterns like a shotgun till it fills back up with crud again.

Kinda like a car motor with 200k miles on it... cleaning out all the build up may not be the greatest idea.

I think but am not certain that "The Gun Cleaners" started here in Waco. They have a shop here at least. I have seen some of their work, and heard their spiel numerous times. 1000% unimpressed.

Let me reiterate... 100000% unimpressed.

Giving people firearms back that clearly still have crap and gunk all in them. Unoiled and dry as can be. Etc.

Save your money. If you don't know how to clean your firearm on your own, learn. It actually does not take all that long to go through the process.

jdk, I appreciate your input. I didn't know anyone who had tried this process or worked with this company in particular so it is good to hear from someone who is at least familiar with them.

As far as knowing how to clean, don't worry. Even though I have worked my collection down from about 50 rifles to 17 I am quite familiar with the personal cleaning process.
I am just always interested in new concepts or techniques when it comes to my firearms. The forum proves to be a good source of information for things like that.

I thought my comment about learning how to clean a firearm might come across as directed specifically at you. I did not intend it that way. My apologies.

One of The Gun Cleaners selling points is that people either don't know how or have time to clean their firearms. I meant my comment simply as a response to this mentality in general.

I like the idea of cleaning a bolt without disassembling it. In fact I've been known to use my buddy's parts washer when he changes the solvent out with new clean stuff, but I'll pass on the rest of it.

That is a friend of mines company, his name is Jacob Burns. He says its awesome and gets all the stuff you cant just rub off. I personally havent done it but think of it as a deep cleaning.

I use my ultrasonic cleaner for any gun parts that will fit in it, like the muzzle break and the bolt when disassembled. I like it.

I have a slightly different opinion on the Gun Cleaners located in Waco.
While I totally agree you should know how to maintain and clean your firearms I do like having the Gun Cleaners place around.
Rough guess I probably clean 40-50 rifles shotguns and pistols each year..... I know I cleaned 3 last weekend.
Extended tube competition shotguns and AR that have lots of rounds of Suppressed rounds thru them are what I drop off there as they take a lot of time to completely disassemble and clean.
Also AR's that I have used in predator hunts in the red sands of North Texas and they have silt in every nook and cranny from cruising dusty roads for days. They do a great job on all of those for me.
I still clean most all my guns but do like having that option of having a place to get an Ultra sonic clean and lubed.

There was a "The Gun Cleaners" in Waco for awhile. Maybe it is still here, I don't know. I never used them. I work at a range as Range Officer occasionally. I don't know how many customers had gun problems after believing their firearm was "clean" after taking it to the Gun Cleaners. Customers' guns would often still have gunk in them and were un-oiled/dry as a bone. Many people were happy with their service, though.

NOTE - I just wrote the above message, and then read the rest of the thread, only to find that I already commented similarly in this thread three years ago.

lol I didn't notice how old the thread was. The Waco Gun Cleaners are now located about a block from where they were. Right next to Harold Waites Pancake house
Which range do you RO at..... I belong to Central Texas Rifle &Pistol and the Axtel Range and also a member of the Waco trap & Skeet but don't shoot much out there lately.
