$2500 firearm

$2500 firearm - 12/01/14 01:01 AM

I posted a few months ago that was my budget on my next firearm.

I almost walked out with a Springfield M1A Scout recently. I was gonna add glass and mounts but ended up not buying.

I've read some reviews and it seems there are a lot of lemons mixed in with that rifle. As bad as I wanted it I just passed.

So know I'm looking at an add ball Ar caliber. It's gotta be odd if it going to be Ar.

Adams Arms makes a .17 hmr. This is plus glass. Anybody had one?

Ruled out the Springfield.

Kicking around the Les Baer 1911

If they made the old school Sendero in 22-250 plus glass I'd do it. The new Senderos are ugly and I don't want a bolt gun in large caliber. Don't have the patience for custom either.

Though call there's a gun show Dec 27 and 28 in dfw. Maybe I will buy before then.

Hola!

If you have had good or even better had several good or bad reviews on the Scout post it up too.

You no like shotguns?

Re: $2500 firearm - 12/01/14 01:40 AM

Anything smaller?

I may if it strikes me right.

.220 swift
22-250
.243 is the absolute largest I'd buy in a bolt gun

I've leaned semi auto hard this whole deal

It's like I'm buying a freaking house or something

Pretty particular I gues

Best thing find one already built, save 20% to 50% look around they turn up often. I just saw a sweet re barreled 220 swift ruger 77 tang safety gun. He wanted 800 for it and it was a shooter, heck if it was a PAC-nor like he said the rebarrel job was over $600...There out there.

No I really do

Looked hard at an old school A5 not long ago. Just wanted something better.

Don't want over and under.

Just looked at Brownings website 10 min ago. M

There's been nothing that has blown me away in semi auto shotgun though.

Re: $2500 firearm - 12/01/14 01:45 AM

I won't buy used.

Ain't gonna do it. This is the most I've ever spent on a gun.

I'd realistically do 3 k if it just blew me away

Txkiller has my old scout in a troy chassis .... I didn't shoot it too much but he seems to get a bit of use out of it and seems to like it

Here is a AR10t in 338 Federal

Re: $2500 firearm - 12/01/14 01:57 AM

That may be ok.

On another note, CDL's SF wood look cheap to me. Heck it seems like a down grade from the standard CDL.

Just felt like I would have been charged more for less of a product

Someone at Remington needs to see that

Look at Cooper if you want an accurate bolt gun.

I won't spend that much. $2500 is a lot to me.

Have a M1A Scout, never read any of the reviews on it but never had an issue with it. From the first year production of the Scout, wood stock, has gone bang ever time and hogs really do not like it, well dead hogs really don't have much to say anyway. That is one fun gun.

You want an odd ball AR caliber? How about a 270AR. I've never seen one in person. Though it looks like you might be wanting smaller calibers.

Honestly sounds like your buying something just to buy something. If you have this little of a drive/want for a particular rifle I doubt you use it much probably a week or two of shooting and back to the gun safe. save your time money and effort and just keep your cash. When the want for a gun hits you, you will know it.

Sounds almost like you want something tactical but have you looked at the Benelli Super Sport or Legacy shotguns? Their M4 looks sweet for a tactical as well.

I was originally going to suggest some O/Us until I saw you weren't interested in them.

Personally my next two guns will be a Browning Cynergy in camo and a 10ga of some kind just for the heck of it.

Re: $2500 firearm - 12/01/14 11:13 PM

Just looked at an Alexander Arms AR in 6.5 Grendal. It had been camp dipped and was wearing a Vortex Viper.

New in box at a local gun shop.

$2100 was what the sticker read

Wasn't exaclty what I was looking for but I may go back on that one.

Gonna hit up the gun library soon at Cabelas.

Re: $2500 firearm - 12/01/14 11:18 PM

It doesn't matter really why but this is a gift from my wife guys.

It's from her and we've been together for 14 years and like most have been through a lot.

She told me that she wanted my next gun to be from her and that she would surprise me with any gun but she honestly doesn't have a clue what to get or if she's getting a deal.

She thought it would be best for me to just get what I wanted but that she wanted to be there when I took it out of the store. She knows what that meant to me.

Trust me, I've looked more on this one than any other. But she's never bought me a gun before. More of a momento I guess On this one.

Re: $2500 firearm - 12/01/14 11:48 PM

If its something meaningful you can't go wrong with a really nice over/under or double barrel shotgun or a high end 1911. Personally if its something thats going to be a potential heirloom I wouldn't do an AR or anything like that. And that's coming from a guy that has a bunch of AR's.
