Mossberg 715T

Mossberg 715T - 11/13/14 11:35 AM

I found a sale on the Mossberg 715T 22LR for $169. I've been looking at 22 rifles for a while, and though I probably wouldn't purchase this at $300, $169 is a different matter. Any opinions? Good? Bad?

The nicest thing I can say about Mossberg rimfire's is, they're ok......

Honestly, I'd spend a bit more and purchase a Ruger 10-22. Much much better from every aspect.

I have a plinkster 702 that is the exact same gun. They just put a plastic AR shell around it. It's garbage. It won't cycle anything. Including every cci made. Tried federal, Remington both standard and high velocity. Cci mini mags, stingers, green label, and standard velocity. I've never gotten more than 2 rounds to shoot without a fte/ftf.

IMO, a Marlin Model 60 for 189$ is a lot better firearm.

Bass

I have the mossberg Ar shell gun. I need a new 22 for me and the kids to play with. It is finicky as hell and jams badly. I am still trying to get it to run right with everything online about tearing it down. Mine has about 300 painstakingly stressful jams/rounds threw it I saw that email from grab a gun today. That gun looks like a plinkster with a high cap mag. It may run better than the Ar clone. But if I had to do it again I would go with a Ruger or marlin.

On another note I stopped by grab a gun today and they have the cheap Federal 22 boxes for $24 right now in stock. The white box with black target of like 350 rounds. And no my mossberg will not function with the federals.

So, the blued 10/22 with composite stock for $10 more is the way to go?

I can buy 22 LR at Walmart pretty reasonably and reliably near my office.

The 10/22 for $10 more is a much better investment. In my opinion, it will give you more years of dependable service.

Absolutely, without question, every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
