Although my wife's doe was a lot bigger, I was very happy with giving another axis doe a dirt nap. Texas Hill Country Axis Hunts on facebook.... See for yourself... short clip

Congrats. A question and a comment though:
Why'd you ditch the bow?
If you had shot a little higher methinks she would've DRTed.

If you had shot a little higher methinks she would've DRTed. The rach we were set up at we chose to set up the pop up at a crossing point. However, axis are very smart. The entire herd of 80 or so were headed right for us.. they spotted the pop up (out of place from what they are used to seeing) and stopped int heir tracks.. they stood in the thick stuff for 20 mins, about 60 yards away. They then started to turn and slowly make their way back the other way.. I knew the pop up was busted and they were not going to come closer. I am going back in a week or so and hunting from a tree stand solo.. My wife was with me so that is why we used the pop up to begin with. Poor choice of pop up location on my part.
