Axis fairly patternable at the feeder now, but never in the fall. Anyone know why? I run Behrend's (Luckenbach) "Game blend" (corn with protein pellets) year-round. (Can't figure out how to post a pic from this tablet, but will later.)

We see more pre-rut (now), rut and late summer than we do in the fall. Not sure why.

Winter growth is mature and not as palatable in many areas. Spring growth needs a jump start of rain. A lot of bucks are about to finish up antler growth also.

Thanks. We've had a fair amount of regular rains, but nothing like last year. This boy wouldn't be my biggest, but still, I may have to sit in the blind next weekend mornings in my gym shorts and tennies. Momma says the freezer will handle more axis. July is the earliest I've killed one, just spotting 'em coming across the field. 'Probably should just pop an axis doe instead. (And thanks to the guys on the hunting gear area that told me to fully format the SD cards for my Stealth Cam. Still not as good as my Bushnells, but a heckuva lot more pictures than before.)
