I hunt way west as well but some of the largest aoudad I have taken the 35's 36's have all been in the Hill Country free range.

I looked into it last year and Mike was the outfitter I had settled on for when I finally do go.
Part of the fun I think is having to hike and climb to find yourself a good ram in the middle of the desert. The experience is different I feel.

I looked into it last year and Mike was the outfitter I had settled on for when I finally do go.
Part of the fun I think is having to hike and climb to find yourself a good ram in the middle of the desert. The experience is different I feel. Agree 100%. Mike did not disappoint. It was a hunt that I will never ever forget and will be repeating in the near future.

The places that are public for aoudad are draw-only. Private is your best bet. Mike has some great aoudad in the Mountains of Old, aka west tx. Just about every ranch in the Hill country has aoudad, too if you want to go that way.

Just about every ranch in the Hill country has aoudad, too if you want to go that way.

Where do you guys go to hunt West Texas is the best. If you want true free range mountain hunts, you have to get with Mulie Mike. If you want a canned hunt there are plenty of those in central and south Texas. Although an Aoudad under a feeder kind of defeats the purpose (personal opinion).
