I am looking for a diy blackbuck hunt, is there ranches that offer this hunt? I am not looking for a high fence hunt, I want a free range blackbuck. I know out west in WY I was able to pay a trespass fee to gain access to land. Do ranchers allow the same thing in Texas? I am located in va so it's hard for me to do my leg work being so far.. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks

It'll be tough to find fee range blackbuck this time of year with whitetail season upon us, best bet is to wait after deer season, chances are greater for finding a place that would allow it and still have a good chance at success. Although Texas has plenty of "free range" blackbuck, axis, and many other exotics, access is the issue here, almost all are on private land, keep looking and calling. DC

Plenty of low fence blackbuck hunts out there. Try Pope Brothers, Ryan Longer, and West Texas Hunt Organization. All have free range properties. I would be willing to bet one of those guys could get you on free range blackbuck anytime of the year. They will probably all be guided hunts though. There probably are some outfitters that may do a semi guided hunt out of a stand but most places aren't going to allow you to freely roam their ranch.

It will be extremely hard to find a self guided hunt where a guide was not involved in any part of the hunt and still get quality. I wish we could offer a hunt like that but there is too much risk nowadays with the few bad apples that have ruined that option. I do have several low fenced properties for black buck available after whitetail season. We have no frills 1 to 2 day hunts for $1800 to $1900 and guided with meals and lodging for $2200 to $2400 www.westtexashunt.com
