When I head down this weekend im planning on hunting Axis with my Knight Mountaineer muzzleloader. Im going to be shooting a Barnes TMZ 290 grain bullet in front of 110 grains of Blackhorn209 powder. I have noticed these Axis are a little tough. Just curious if anyone hunts them much with their muzzlys?

You shouldn't have any problem. I've shot two elk with 300gr Barnes but did use 150gr Pyrodex; took a bull at 154 yards!

I've killed several with my muzzleloader. Plenty of weapon. I quit using it because it was such a pain to clean after each shot. Lots of fun to shoot but I'm getting old and lazy I guess. Good Luck on your hunt!!

Killed several big Iowa whitetails at 100yrd or better with 150 gr of WhiteHot Pellets and a 250 gr Barnes bullet. All with live weight in the high 200's...you should do fine.

Yeah I've killed plenty of whitetails and a few good size hogs with the muzzy, I went out to night and shot it a little bit more and it is hitting just about perfect,2 1/2 inches high at a 100 yards, I should be very good out to about 175 yards or so dead on. I'm a bowhunter and love the excitement of the 1 shot and then with the muzzy the smoke adds a little bit more!!! Just ready to get after them. thanks all.
