Last evening, just right at dark, I had what looked to be a very nice trophy fallow jump the fence onto the lease. It was very dark, but thought I saw an ear tag - but I might have been mistaken. And for the record, it was too dark to see in my scope at distance, else I would have been tempted.
First one we've seen in the area, although the land owner said he saw one many years ago. We have plenty of axis, and even a few free range blackbuck - but this is the first fallow.

No telling what you will see around here. Had a nice fallow walk between my house and the neighbors about 6 months ago.
Live to hunt, forced to work!

Deer moving like crazy just before daylight Saturday. Prolly saw 20-30 deer, axis and whitetail, but fallow was no-show. Then the front hit about 6:30am and it went from no wind, foggy, and 67 deg - to 50 deg and north wind of 15-20mph. Didn't see a single critter but a red fox after daylight - and I stayed out all day except for a short break for a trip to Wheeler's.
First time I have ever had an evening sit and didn't see a deer.
Did see two small does scamper around after dark seen with the Thermal.
Blew off this morning because still strong north wind and steady cold drizzle.

Fallow are hell on fences. I'm about to have to double the bottom 4' of my fences if I decide to keep fallow I've lost more than a few. They are idiots.
It's good form to try and find the owner. But there's really no telling where it came from.

Ive only taken one fallow, a chocolate one that was just so-so. I wasn't impressed with the taste. It is wasn't bad at all, but didn't compare to axis or blackbuck.

I'm willing to try it again. Don't want to be too quick to judge.

The fallow bucks I have had was about like whitetail on taste. Not as good as Axis but not bad.
