Hey all, I have a new lease that has been untouched for some time. While driving in earlier in the week to look at the lease, a few turkey were spotted a mile or two down the road.
I know with deer, you can feed and such to bring deer in. What options are there for turkey? New to turkey so trying to see what work I need to do next week when I head up to the lease to do some prep work.

Put out your Feeders just like you do for deer mix some milo and corn if they are there they will find it, run some cameras on the feeders to see what is visiting them and most of all what time of the day. Do you know if you have any turkey on the place at all? Do you have water or creeks with trees big enough for the turkeys to roost?

There is a small creek on the property now, but we are not sure if it is due to all the rain we had in the last few weeks or something full time. The property has been mainly untouched for about 10-15 years. There is some good sized trees and thick vegetation on the property as well. I place a game cam out on Friday with corn in front of the cam just to see what is out there, so only time will tell if they are on my property.
By the creek, we did see some partial tracks, water line is high right not so all grass around the edge so we could tell exactly what kind of bird it was. I will give the milo and corn a try and I plan on moving the game cam to the creek on the next visit. We opted for the large game trail crossing and figured that should give us a good shot of most things on the property.

Do like LittleD says. They like water close by but will walk, run or fly to get it. Also if the larger trees are mesquite....they don't like them anymore than we do but will roost in a pinch. Normally during the spring prior to open season, I will place my fox pro out and make about a half hr of calls once a week. I also throw chicken scratch on a path to the main feed area. Make sure if you call your not carrying a rifle or shotgun.
