Just picked up a lease between Kerrville and Fredricksburg off 16, was curious what the turkey hunting was like in the area? Owner said he has seen a few but didn't call any. I don't think he hunts them. Gonna try and get out there in the next couple weeks and see what I can come across. Was curious what others experience in the area has been.

I hunted this past weekend at my ranch in Gillespie County (Close to Harper). Saturday we had birds all over the place, but couldn't get them interested in us. Did decoy a bearded hen which was pretty cool. Sunday I found a big group of birds that had 5-6 nice gobblers in it. Again, they were not interested, and it didn't help they were across the fence! The birds were very vocal until about 9 AM.

Cool thanks for the info. Gonna head out there tomorrow to look around again. My try a few calls and see what kind of response I get.

Hunted between Harper and Doss last weekend and only had one bird work the calls. I bet this weekend will be good, they were vocal up until 9am like hunt91 mentioned. Good luck!

Thanks guys appreciate the input. I'm hoping it has a decent amount of turkey, it's the only wild animal the wife will eat. Working on getting her accustomed to venison, but she's not big on eating meat in general, so the way I see it I'm doing well!

My place close to Luckenbach has more birds than I've ever seen. That's southeast of you a ways though.

I think there will be turkey, owner said the neighbors may have moved the birds with his hunting tactics. Will have to try some calling and make the ranch hard to resist for those birds.
