Out of the Sabine and Angelina NF which has the greater population of turkeys? What is the best way to locate them? Just walking through the woods and looking for signs? Eliminating areas? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well the Angelina doesn't have an open season. Don't know why that wasn't updated in the regulations booklet, but they recently stocked birds there and it will be a few years before a season is opened. There were signs posted on the roads when entering NF lands to notify the public that eastern turkey season is closed, so that's one area eliminated for ya.

Go stay at fin and feather and hunt to the south a few miles. Some areas south of the reservoir are good or push to the west side of the hwy up against the Moore. SE or NW of Fairmont was best for me.
