Have these guys scratching around in my hay field yesterday afternoon and thought I would share.
This is part of a group with a single Tom, 4 hens and 23 poults.

Yeah, pretty amazed myself.
It has been a very good year here in Central Texas though and we feed them regularly.
I have seen good early success before only to be thinned by predators as the season goes on.
Hopefully, half or more make it to maturity.

Hope the can make 25-30%, I have seen around 40 poults here on others patures, a few on my place, each time I see them there are fewer, but the ones lingering are sure putting on the growth.

I have historically stuck with dove but think this may be my first year for turkey. Looking forward to being able to contribute something of value to these forums...eventually. eek

Nice; I've recently seen a momma turkey showing her 6 or 7 poults where all the nice choice soft and hard mast locations are on my new property; really cool to watch her 'teaching' them. Have watched deer hit the same spots throughout the year; nothing like having 'auto-self-refilling feeders' on the property that cost $0 to maintain!

I'm glad you guys are seeing young turkeys. For the first time in years we haven't seen a single poult on our place in Lee county.
