Will be using mainly for jack rabbit, coyote and occasionally on smaller hog. I was thinking a cz455 in 17hmr. Anyone own this rifle? Anyone recommend other rifle? Will be mounting a Leupold 4-12x40 on it. Thanks

I bought a Marlin .22 mag about 20 yrs ago now to use for that purpose. That caliber has worked very well for me and it is very accurate. Can't compare it to a .17 since I have never owned one.

Had a 22 mag also, would fit for this as Stx said. Also have a CZ 22 in heavy barrel, most accurate 22 I have ever shot, for the $; I think CZ is solid.
Nephew has a 17 and loves it, probably more accurate range, idk, don't know the current cost of ammo on each now either. He has said he gets some fragmentation if he hits any thing down range, like a stiff grass, leaves. twigs.

Ruger American in .22 Mag. I am shooting one with the 18" barrel and topped with a Trijicon RMR. I love this package for coons, fox, jackrabbits or any small game. Adios, Gary

Based on you saying coyote and hogs I would skip the rimfire and get at least a 223.

I agree with Aggiehunter. Get a 223. But even that will be marginal on big pigs. I use 40 gr Nosler BTs on coyotes and smaller, but have moved up to 60 gr Partitions for the pigs.

As you wanting just to kill these critters or harvest pelts?

I load 55 grain Gamekings and use them on everything but I’ve had a few hogs run off. But then they are hogs and I do not care
