The Guineas starting yelling right around dawn this morning. I grabbed the 25-45 Sharps and stepped out the back door to see what was upsetting them. Figured it was a raccoon or possum, since I've taken quite a few of them this year. Couldn't see a thing at first, so I just leaned up against a mesquite tree and waited. Sure enough, once my eyes got used to the dim light, this pretty cat came into focus, sitting beside a large yucca plant, trying to pick out one of the hens for his breakfast. The 87 grain soft nose changed his whole outlook on the morning meal. At 76 yards, the bullet made a tiny entry wound but an exit wound the size of my fist. Nasty. Don't think a taxidermist can do much with it, but I'll take it in for an estimate. I think this particular cat (or one of his running mates) is responsible for the loss of 4 Guineas and two barn cats this year. I hope the predation stops.

Too bad about the fur, but at least you got the guinea killer. How do you like that 25-45?

I love the 25-45. Low to no recoil, flat shooting out to 200 yards, easy to reload for, and on my AR platform, it's been deadly accurate and not a single FTF or FTE through about 300 rounds. I've popped hogs, coons, possums, 'yotes with it so far, and it has been quite effective in taking them down.

As promised in my initial post, I took the cat to the taxi this afternoon and he declared it a total loss. The exit wound wasn't just a large flap of skin that he could stitch back together; it was literally shredded beyond salvage. He said he could do a full mount as long as I kept the "exit side" to the wall; out of sight. I decided not to have that done. I guess the pictures are going to have to be my "trophy."
