Ran the traps this morning and found out there were 3 more of the masked bandits caught in the DP traps. First one had one foot in each of two traps! I had set the traps about 5 feet apart using the same anchor stake. This big old boy somehow managed to get trapped by both. Don't know how he did it, 'cause he must have had one foot already in one of the traps before he tripped the other.



Then I had a "standard catch of one foot one trap:



The third one wound up having both feet trapped in one of my old DP traps:



I'm going to continue a full court press on the raccoons but you've probably seen enough pictures of coons with their feet caught in traps, so I won't punish you with any more of them! I'll give you a body count update periodically.

I'm fixing to start a coon campaign on one of my feeders. The whole gang shows up on camera every night. I don't have anything personal against them but enough is enough. Too bad I can't do the same to the 20 or so turkeys that show up every day.

That first one was just like, "Welp, may as well enjoy it."

I need to get some of those traps!

Keep after them! Have you caught more than you thought were around? I was amazed after my year and a half total. I was only getting maybe 3-4 coons per picture. They just keep coming in.

Bolt Guy, I don't guess I've caught more that I thought were around, it's that I knew there were a bunch of them, but as long as they didn't interfere with life on the property, I was willing to just take 'em out when I caught 'em trying to work our chickens or Guineas. And, occasionally, while waiting to ambush hogs, they would come in (in droves!)and start eating the corn; I'd take out a few. But it's finally gotten to the point where it appears to me, as steward of the property, that we have got an imbalance in the predator population, and it's time for me to thin the herd. I've probably removed 30 or so in the last 3 months; maybe 20 in the previous 6 months.

Glad to see your efforts are paying off. Think of all the quail and turkey nests you've saved, including your own animals. Good luck in your future efforts!
