Hi all, Hoping for a bit of knowedge here. Pigs are tearing up my lease so I've set out to exterminate as many as I can over the next few weekends. Problem is, freezer is full from deer season and it seems hunters for the hungry only takes field dressed deer. I can't see just trashing good bacon. Any thoughts? If it helps my property is out between Sulfer Spring and Mt Pleasant area.

Pack quarters on ice in cooler , and then straight to smoker over next several days. I've kept some 2 weeks this way.
Also - check thrift stores for another cheap/used freezer; can't ever have too many freezers!

Kuby's in Dallas will take hogs and donate them through a church food bank. It's a long drive for you, but if you shoot a few over the weekend it may be an option. You could always take the back straps and cook them right away. There is also the circle of life option.

Typically a local church or some other organization can take the meat and get it to families that need it.

If your trying to get as many off the place as possible you just need to go ahead and get a bone pile started and dump them.

What about inviting some friends over to do the kill and harvest. I bet you can come up with a lot of unknown friends!

Last year I got 68 pigs. Anything less than 100 pounds I actually skinned and quartered and gave the meat to friends and employees. Except a few that ranching neighbors would come pickup and process themselves. Anything bigger that we trapped, we sold live or gave to a guy down the road that was training hog dogs. He would come load them up himself. He would use them for training, and then for dinner. Only a few big boars that we shot while hunting were fed to the buzzards and varmints, they need to eat too. I have become spoiled and have a freezer full (getting a bit lower after the holidays) of 20-30 pound sows. There is always a use for a pig, to somebody or something.

Check and see if you have a local "Hunters for the Hungry" organization. If they won't take the excess, they'll be able to give you some names of folks who would love to have a freezer full!

Is Florida too far to deliver? I sure do miss that wild pork.
