colt.45 was wondering where the hogs are

thought I post some pics from game cams

I am heading out tomorrow , maybe I can drop one of the bigger boars for another euro mount

this guy showed up a year ago, weighing 150 ish
he's been hitting all feeders daily and is probably pushing 280+ now

here's he's up in the canyon, mostly nocturnal
same spot where I dropped his 230 lb brother

he's so fat, he has no chin....... he's a fat bubba

BBQ size

this pack and 4 other packs (of 10+) will hit all of my feeders
3 - 6x a day

this is a new boar, attracted to my place by the sows in heat

we let him played with the ladies and dropped him couple months ago

this guy is new

i dropped him as well, but lost him in the creek

white feet

he's been around since he was about 80 ish, smart

see the crop circle he created with the pipe ?
he can empty a pipe in one night, will spend 5 hrs doing so

and my favorite target
his name is el Cucuy
showed up 2 years ago chasing the sows in heat, he was 150 ish then
he's probably 250 or better now
he haunts the canyon, I've caught him circle down wind of me
Pic doesn't show his tusks well, but he's got some teeth
probably the prettiest boar I've seen on my place

I went out saturday looking for those boars

they show up on cams, just not at the same place and time where I was waiting for them

saturday, 9:22 pm

looking through my night vision I saw a pack of at least 20 rushing in to eat
the special bait I put out .... 150 yds away

took my time, put on my ear protection, turn off phone
warm up my thermal and waited

I thought I have plenty of time but after only a few minutes
they have eaten the whole thing and were leaving

the dominant sow left first and she was the lookout

the beta sow followed, they both waited for the rest of young uns to finish

the little ones are about 15-20 lbs ...piglets from the batch in march

the alpha turned back for one last check on the pack.... I know they're about to leave
so I send a 165 gr Nosler BT - front shoulder impact , pig down

the beta sow scrambled ,gathered the young uns and waited, wondering what the hell is going on ?
she turned - like she's about to run - another .308 rips the humid air - front shoulder impact, another pig down

the rest are now running at me, I send another Nosler, another pig down

3 shots, 3 pigs ... death from above (10 ft platform )

I recovered 2 but lost the last one in high grass
It's late at night and I am too tired to go looking for long

I may have to take my tractor and clear this field, this is the 2nd hog I've lost in high grass at night

they're 120 lbs each for a total of 240 lbs

took me til 2am to drag them back and did some surgical dismemberment of appendages and tasty tissues

I'll be back this weekend - will be hunting with a friend
I'll let him concentrate on the packs and I'll go up the canyon for those elusive boars

cheers been thar, whin i huntsolo usualy cary my light back pack. Was it too wet ta drive to hogs ? The two i shot years ago, gutted them & dragged away from the others.. Then went got back pack, called couple guys that hunt WMA, back then no ATV.s allowed, if its not real wet they finaly let ya usr ATV, can't aford one... Any ways we said we'd help each other, so took chance & they meet me at parking area, brought back pack with, it was alot easier.. It would have taken twice as long if doing it myself... Dont gut, just take what ya need & leave rest your yotes & bussards... flag
