I'm sure you can just imagine what this does to my ever-thinning population of masked bandits/deer corn chompers! It ain't purty! If it's a head shot, there ain't much left of the head; if it's a body shot, I don't usually get an exit wound but when I do, you can put your fist in it. Autopsies reveal that all the organs in the body cavity have been pureed. Nasty little bullet at this velocity on animals the size of 'coons and possums.

Man, that's quick!

Any idea how long the barrel will last shooting that fast?
I'm not knocking the round - just interested in trying it and haven't really done any research on it so far.

Actually, barrel life is kinda a moot point since I plan to do it in an AR platform and can change at will.

SnakeWrangler, it's a Ruger #1 in stainless steel with a laminated stock and 3-9 X 40 Nikon glass. Are you looking for pics of dead raccoons? I can provide them if you wish!

Vern 1, I have no idea how long the barrel in my stainless Ruger #1 will last if I continue to punish it with the 4300+fps rounds. For target shooting, I dropped back to 4150 fps, and I do quite a bit more target shooting than coon shooting. I've owned the gun for about 5 years and have not noticed any decline in accuracy in my 100-150 yard groups. Interestingly enough, POI between the two velocities does not change at these modest ranges.

Nice!
With reasonable care, it will probably outlive both of us anyway!

Are you shooting same bullet at 4300+ for corn thief control and 4150 for target?

I'll help you out! The bottom two were within a couple of thousand feet per second of being dead!
