Alright I need some help here. I’m going out to a ranch in Abilene this weekend to pig hunt and attempt to shoot some yotes. I have a couple questions! So they have a 2 big dove fields and a creek that runs through that has a bunch of hardwoods in there. What times are the best times to coyote hunt? How do you night hunt? What kind of places should I be calling in and what type of call should work best? I was thinking fawn in distress but wasn’t sure. I’m borrowing my friends fox pro. I appreciate the help y’all!

As hot as it is I’d focus on an hour before dark, dark, and a couple hours after daylight.

As far as calls I’d start with prey sounds like rabbit, baby pigs, or bird distresses. If that doesn’t work after a while I would try some coyote vocalizations like pup distress.

Try to keep the wind in your face and sun behind you as it makes it harder for coyotes to see you while looking towards the sun. Be prepared for them to pop out anywhere especially while trying to circle downwind of the call.

Don’t crank the call up too loud start low and turn it up a little as you go.

no. 1, determine if there are coyotes in the area...either right at dark or first light, listen for howls.

This place has a ton of coyotes. Last time I was down there they had an over population of them. So how do I night hunt? I have a green pig light that I planned on using
