I called today to get permission to enter the property again. The first night, right at dusk, I saw a nice boar. It's been 3 weeks, but today when I talked to the land owner they said that a cow had died on Tuesday, and was back in the area where I hunt.
Should I try right at dusk and hunt for 1-2 hours after dark, or try later in the evening. Should I try calling or just watch the "bait"?
thanks, CC

Go out in the evening in time to set up. There is no greater coyote call in the world than a thousand pounds of meat. My experience is they will come in very cautiously due to the number of scavengers a dead cow attracks.

unless they find it during daylight hours, most likely will be on it during the night to daylight.

I checked the dead cow when I got there, it was stinking pretty bad at 4 days old. Looks like the only thing that has found it is the flies and maybe buzzards. The hide is still intact. I'm glad the wind was out of the north. I sat up 100 yds west of it. My old stand was about 200 yds across the pasture, and pretty obscured by weeds, and dog fennels. There was still some weeds and tall grass blocking the view so I sat my Foxpro out 20 yds in front of me, thinking if I saw anything I might be able to coax them out with a coyote pup squeal. They didn't show, but the pig did. Bad mistake on his part.
