Hey guys, so a few weeks back I couldn't make up my mind between two guns so I got them both. I am looking for something to hunt hogs and deer with.
First gun was the Smith and Wesson 629 Stealth Hunter. I actually did take a decent sized hog with it the day after I got it at about 100 yards.
Pros: Smooth trigger, accurate, 6 shot.
Cons: Can't fire +p, scratches really easily.

The second was a Taurus Raging Bull 454 8 3/8 barrel. I havent hunted with this gun yet, but I took it to the rage and sighted in the scope with some 45 colt. Really smooth shooting. I popped in some 300 grain Hornady 454 and Im not going to lie the recoil was pretty brutal, I noticed myself flinching quite a bit.

So Ill ask this, is it worth learning to handle the 454 or will .44 handle all of my needs?

for me, its between .270 & .243 rifles. cause of health problems been using .243 for deer. less kick. 2cents worth. if ya flinchen with bigger cal. less acracy. my posts are cheap. flag

I would go with what you are accurate with and not have to hold on for dear life everytime you fire it.
IMO

Like my 629, largest gun I need. Still prefer the 41 mag over the 44
