Anyone hunted here? We had a pheasant show up on our deer lease, but we couldn't legally shoot it in our county. So my 9 year daughter and I were talking and she wants to go on a pheasant hunt, so I looked around and I ended up booking one with the prairies end hunt club in late Feb, just wondering if anyone has hunted there and what their thoughts were. I have never hunted pheasant so even though I am sure this will be a release type hunt, figure it will be fun for my daughter and I to do one afternoon.

I've never hunted there but I did speak with them over the phone. The guy I spoke to seemed very nice and helptful. I was wanting to take my young dog out and he was willing to make a special price for limited birds. Give us a report after your hunt.

Did a hunt there a few years ago, guided by doubleb20.
The property is nice, and has a lot of open prairie. It was also my daughters first bird hunt, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. If you have your choice, I liked the back property across the street from the main house better. You could still see he path, from the days of horse and wagon. They did build a guest house, but I heard it burned down the next year.

Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden.
Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

We run NSTRA trials out there, very nice property and I know a few guys or guide out there. You'll like it a lot. Good people.

Take her to shoot skeet a few times before you go. Make sure the gun is light enough for her to swing when shooting, and she's familiar/comfortable with the mechanics of the gun.
Your guide should give you a safety talk before the hunt. It's a lot of fun, and plenty of action to get the young ones hooked on bird hunting.

Oh, my daughter is short for her age, so she is just able to shoulder a jr .22 and practicing with it, although she has been in the blind with me since she was 4, she hasn't shot at any animals yet (other than rabbits). So she will just be along for the ride and fun in the field this trip. She has committed to working on her shooting this offseason and that .22 does have a 410 barrel I can swap out, so maybe by the next time we try something like this she will be ready for it.

I took my daughter there on her first hunt too. Doubleb20 guided as well. Great time and nice people.
