Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Funny, eye worms weren't an issue this year.

Funny, eye worms weren't an issue this year. I appreciate the information, but I'm with you. We were never our of birds last year.

I've been looking at things and everyone wants to blame this and blame that. Here in Texas it's water, grasshoppers and cover. 2012 was a jacked up year but nature found a way. Drive through any other state east of Texas and you can tell what killed off the quail. Farming.

i'm an outfitter I do quail hunts in NM and AZ. I provided a large amount of blue quail and bobwhites from various parts of nm and even some gambels from az. for Mr. Kendall and his research team we don't have near the numbers of worms per bird as texas but we do have them they were worse in our bobwhites the strange one was the gambels from az out of over 50 samples only one had worms. I think it is just a natural occurrence that will cycle from time to time. we hunt only in natural wild terrain no agriculture , food plots , feeding stations or anything else that would cause birds to congregate unnaturally and we still have them , but that could explain why we have a lower rate of occurrence.

I have read that eyeworms were found in Texas bobwhite as early as the fifties. While it is a problem, I would not want one to hang their hat on this for some of the recent decline in quail. We as hunters and enthusiast of quail can look out just today and say the situation is hundreds of times better due to timely rainfall and better cover for quail. Nothing moves the needle more than rain.

My ranch is south of coleman and Last year was the first year I found birds that were infested with the cecal worm, those birds came from coveys near a small stream and low area where water was stagnant. Anyone know if there is medicated feed on the market yet
