shot a round of sporting clays today with a friend. I've used Remington heavy dove shells for years now in mine and my 3 boys 870's and my benelli and my new browning 20g O/U last year. Today for about the first half of the course the shells were going in tight. They loosened up in the latter rounds with just a few being tight. When I say tight I had to actually push the shell in to seat it. I shot the same 20g last year alot but cleaned it after every use. We put in a few different brands and they went all the way in like they should. My wife and kids did get me a case of shells for my B-day a few weeks back and I shot shells out of that case today. You think it could be a bad case (not bad but just shells that are off tolerance) ? The Remington shell case has the grooves running the length and some brands have smooth bodies. Anybody ever experience this?

Yep it happens a lot with the cheap shells, and to some degree with the "better" ones. Sometimes its the crimp end out of round. Doesn't seem to be any adverse effects from it.

They weren't very well tapered. Happens occasionally. The next batch should work fine.

Call thier CS number. The one time I have gotten actual out of spec ammo, it was replaced 2 for 1, to make up for the cost is shipping the bad rounds back.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

Several years ago some of the Remington shotgun ammo was defective. I don't recall which one it was. After firing, the extractor was pulling the brass off the hull leaving it inside the bore. Not good.
I just bought a case of the Remington Nitro Premier Handicap 27 and some of the brass has a sharp edge where it meets the hull. I hope they feed alright.
