Has anybody tried the beavertail final attack boat? It seems like it's about half the price of other layout boats. I'm trying to find a good boat that can be used on the edges of playas, on sloughs, and occasionally as a layout blind

I have one with a 5 hp long tail on it. I have not hunted it yet but did put it in the river and run it for a bit. Good boat.

How about a true layout boat? Don't see them as often on the gulf as you do on the east coast.

Yep many are afraid of a small layout boat in big waters.
So that might be one reason,
I use a Author Armstrong layout boat myself,I give in and sold my longtail motor,so I'm looking for another thinking I'd like a 9hp.this time around,6HP just wasn't enough for a14' boat.

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

great boat for private marsh or flooded fields, only way id use on lake it if it where hauled in big boat then used in shallow water. It is very wide and stable, but cannot be paddled. The bottom is just plastic and not reinforced with ribs or anything. its kinda like standing or sitting on a waterbed in deeper water. really good boat in the right situation. for the money you cant beat it. i used my credit card points and got a gift card from bass pro and got it for free "kinda" lol.
