With having a pacemaker, I had to sell my 12 and 10ga shotguns and went to a 410 due to recoil since my pacemaker is on my right shoulder.

I am having a heck of a time finding non-toxic shells for my 410 for ducks and especially for geese. Do any of you have any insight on where I could get a couple boxes for the season?

Found plenty for teal and probably other ducks if they are decoying at no more than 40 yards.

Thanks

Saw some federal #6 steel at academy yesterday, red/blue box. High brass, same loads I use for my 12 gage for teal. I think they were $11.50ish

I had to find some for the kiddos, only place I was able to find it in Lubbock was Cabelas.

Shot my first turkey today...Scared the crap out of everyone in the frozen food section, it was awesome!

Like I said OP, learn to reload. You can reload much better ammo for half the cost once you have the hulls.

TSS is expensive, but if .410 is all you can shoot due to the shoulder you can kill geese with the TSS loads.

TSS loads will kick the crap out of you- recoil is the issue- guess u can tone down to 1/2 oz in 410?
hear they pattern very well at 60 yards - who makes these. Would be cool to have a few boxes of 3 or 3.5 inch. Or can you only buy the tungsten spheres for re loading?

Use a metrogun.
Still be able to shoot 12 gauge
85% less recoil

I would think I'm heavy you would have chosen a #6. There would a lot more pellets and #6 heavy will kill teal and big ducks all day long. I would shoot devoting geese with heavy6

Get yourself a semi auto 28 gauge and a couple cases of winchester steel #6's off rogers sporting goods. I shot that the last weekend of teal season and was killing em dead out to 35-40 yards. If it wasn't for the noise you would have a hard time knowing the gun went off the recoil is so light.

If TSS loads from a .410 or 28ga is kicking the crap out of you, you need to take up another sport.

You can't buy the shells. You have to buy the tungsten shot and reload it.

#6 steel works fine for teal. I have a case of the Roger's Winchester loads. It cripples far too many late season birds for me to use it on big ducks. It's fine at 20 yards and in, but once the birds flush out of the hole all you do is cripple from my experience.

Is that the Expert shell from Winchester? If it is, I can say I have never been a fan of those shells.

Were you shooting the 5/8s or the 3/4 Oz?

If I was you I would listen to BarneyWho. When he isn't shooting and reloading he builds nuclear bombs. He has forgotten more about reloading than most people will ever know, plus he does hunt duck with a 410 pretty regulary

Thanks everyone, I guess I should have not sold all of my shot, powder and primers the past 3 years when I sold both my 12 and 20 gauge reloaders.

I really don't get to duck or goose hunt much at all nowadays with torn ligaments in my right foot and a blown out right arch too. Also having stainless hips (right one) had a tendency to dislocate with a twist or stuck in mud or rough plowed ground, I just can't take the chance. I can buy what little non-toxic shells for the 410 and can still use my 20ga with a limbsaver pad. Heck, shooting whitewings two weekends ago and limiting with the little gun amazed me and we were hunting on cut milo and corn which was somewhst difficult to walk in with my right foot, but I just kept to shooting one bird and watching it fall as to not lose it and also watched what I was doing walking the entire 2 day hunt. Best dove hunt I been on in decades.

Again, thanks all for the advice on where to get the shells and reloading; sure do miss reloading.
