Did a little playing around with an old brush and some old paint. I painted the brown and splattered the black.

Kinda hard to mess up camp paint. Unless you're trying to be fancy.

looks tippy As in top heavy? I could be surprised but I don't think I will be. The steel frame is very light steel. It was preformed out of what appears to be 16 or 18 gauge steel. The angles bent into the steel gives it a lot of strength. Tin is tin, whatever it weighs. There is 10 pieces of tin roof that are 6 foot long. If you were to pick it up, it would be heavy. On a 22 or 23 foot boat you would barely be able to tell the difference. We shall see. If it for some reason it is too top heavy, for the cost of 1 chainsaw blade I can cut that top off in about 10 minutes. I aint scared to try, I aint scared to fail. I am only scared of not trying because of fear.

If the tin top turns out to be too heavy, you can add a few additional struts and cover in canvas

I reckon it is about 7 foot center toon to center toon. I will see tonight. R panels are 36 inches. So two of them is 72 plus a 26 inch door plus gaps is 96 inches at least from side to side. Not that I type this I think I remember is is 8 foot across the beam.

Considering the combined weight of the chosen crew on that boat going to the coast in January, the weight added by the tin is the least of his worries. Seriously, the problem I predict will be in strong wind. It may act as a big fixed sail.

I dont think we have to worry to much about all that weight up top. More than half will be on the side of the road between Waller and the coast.

Anytime someone posted a boat on a forum I was on, for years the first comment was "looks tippy."

He is the only one that named the same concern, what I believe the only concern about the whole project.

There will have to be some kind of weight distribution. I have already figured out 4 people and all their gear can't be on the shooting side. Well when all the shooting starts that is the first place everybody is headed to.

Well when all the shooting starts that is the first place everybody is headed to. Here is the floating blind I just built. I made it like this so that people could kind of sit up underneath the slanted walls but when everyone stands up to shoot they have to be directly in the center of the blind. Maybe if you made a shelf that came off the shooting side 2 foot or so it would keep everyone more towards the center of the blind while they are shooting.

Hello John. I took advantage of the fender when making this trailer blind. It makes for a nice shelf and keeps the rain off your gear. I didn't do it to the pontoon blind because I was trying to push the reaches of the roof to port side of the boat. Meaning I wanted the roof to go as far to port side as possible. My wife and I will be putting a futon couch along the starboard side behind the driver's console. I wanted that roof to cover beyond the extent of the futon. I will just have to see how bad it leans when we hunt it. It might be a non issue. All gear will be stored starboard. Both fuels, gasoline and propane, will be on the starboard bow. Batteries will be starboard as well.

Oh and for those of you building blinds. Take old rubber boots, cut the tops off right at the ankle, drill .5 inch holes through the soles to release water. The sccrew the shoes down to the floor to put your shotgun butts in. I had not put them in at the time of this pic but they are free and they work very well. It is impossible for a dog to kick them over.

I can see the headlines now "handsome waterfowler and his dog Maggie nicknamed "Wayne's loss", (a GREAT lab) were injured from debris flying off what officials are calling the ducktoon but EPA calls a traveling hazardous disposal system".
