Question for those that hunt around the abilene area. Historically, speaking when is the best time to hunt dove? I've often found that opening weekend is ok, and there is a lull until early Oct. when the cold fronts start to hit.

I know every year is different, but what have ya'll seen?

I'm looking at some dove hunting options in South Texas this hear, and may go there first.....

October can be some very good hunting with the fronts pushing the northern birds through. Weather is cooler and crowds are smaller. I have some groups that prefer October over opening weekend.
