I walk in to my spots and wanted to know what everyone else does that uses a jerk string rig.

I hope I can word it correctly...My question is I have my dekes TX rigged to carry in easily. Do you unconnect the Tx line/weight and hook up the Jerk String to the keel? Keep the TX rig on and just hook up. Or connecting to Both loops might work.

Or just bring a bag of loose dekes for the jerk string rig.

Thanks for the help!

I usually leave mine hooked onto the TX Rig. It might work better without it but I'm lazy. Lol. Seems to be plenty of movement still.

My problem with a jerk rig is that there is inevitably too much movement from the blind pullin on the string which busts my cover half the time.

I carry in on texas rigs, select a few for jerk rig and take them off the texas rigs.

If your using multiple feet of elastic try cutting it down to only about 18". Can make your dekes bob around with alot less movement in the blind.

Usually leave a few unrigged in my decoy bag and my jerk rig came in a little pouch that fits nicely in my blind bag.

When I’m setting it, I just clip the loose decoys on the jerk string and set it up.

I'm cheap, bought a small 3lb anchor, attached a 2' bungie cord, and then tied decoy line to that. When I setup I chunk the anchor out into the middle. I then make a loop in the decoy line, flip that loop over the main line, and then wrap loop around keel of deke(s). I just youtubed homemade jerk string. I leave the weights and all just wrapped around keel as well. If you do it right when you pull it comes to you, then spins and turns the other way when released. I've yet to completely master it but it works well enough. My hardest thing is hiding the line. It wants to float. I'm thinking about attaching some weights to the line in spots that I know would be out in the water.

Leave your rigs as they are. Just take some small rope or zip ties and attach to your decoys making a loop. Decoys are still tx rigged but then makes it easy to attach the clips on jerk string to the decoy. I use large snaps on my Tx rigs. Line runs thru the snap, snap attached to decoy. You can also attach the jerk string snap to the snap of your Tx rig...but I find a small rope is easier. I did only about 4 dekes with the rope "designating" those 4 as my jerk decks....but got tired of looking thru a dozen to find the 4. So I just tie a small loop of string thru all my decoys now so their all jerk rig ready. You could just loop the string around the head but the line shows....depends on the cover. If I'm in flooded timber I loop around head for ease. If in an open hole I attach to rope loops.
